Super Secret Holiday Popcorn Recipe!

IMG_1284[1]

Yes, you read that right!  I am giving up my super secret Holiday Popcorn Recipe!  But before I do, let me just say that this stuff is amazing, addicting and all thing wonderful! I actually have friends and family who request this as their Christmas gift every year.  I know it sounds crazy and at first I thought they were kidding but when I bought them a gift instead of handing over a tin of the precious Christmas Popcorn, well lets just say that I still haven’t heard the end of it.  The real secret is how simple it is.

The ingredients:

  • 16 cups of popcorn (you can use natural, salted or buttered)
  • 2 cups of pretzel sticks
  • 2 cups rice crisp cereal
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 block of almond bark
  • 2 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter

Seriously, that’s it! Lay out 3 sheets of wax paper to make a large area where you’ll be able to spread out the popcorn.  On LOW heat melt the almond bark and peanut butter, stirring occasionally.  Do not try to do this quickly or you will have an icky mess on your hands and will have to start over again. Pop 3 bags of microwave popcorn. pour them into a large bowl making sure to remove any seeds.  Add in pretzels, rice crisp cereal, and peanuts. Once the almond bark and peanut butter have completely melted, pour it over the popcorn mixture.  Working quickly with a large wooden spoon, mix to coat all of the mixture.  Pour this out on the wax paper and spread evenly.  Now for the hard part, leave it alone!  Really, don’t touch it for at least an hour.  I usually leave mine covered overnight to be sure it is completely cooled.  Once it is hardened, break it apart in chunks and serve.  It’ll be gone in a flash so be sure to save a few pieces for yourself.
